Columbia Students: Boycott Classes!
Organizer: CUAD (Columbia University Apartheid Divest)
On November 21 at 5:00 PM, Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) is organizing a protest outside the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). The demonstration is part of a national day of action demanding that Columbia University end its dual-degree program with Tel Aviv University and cease study-abroad opportunities in Israel. CUAD has called for the protest in opposition to the university hosting Barak David, a former IDF member and Israeli journalist, for a discussion on the “Israel–Hamas war.” Attendees are being encouraged to wear masks, keffiyehs, and bring noise-making devices, signaling the potential for a loud and disruptive event.
Organizers’ History:
CUAD and its affiliates, including Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), have a history of polarizing protests that critics argue promote hostility and intimidation under the guise of activism. Such events often disrupt campus activities and contribute to an unsafe environment for students, faculty, and staff. Their campaigns frequently attract condemnation for targeting individuals and programs with inflammatory rhetoric.
For Your Safety:
- Avoid the area: Steer clear of the SIPA building and its surroundings during the protest to avoid potential disruptions or confrontations.
