Student Rally For Palestine

On Thursday, the Downtown SJP Coalition—comprising chapters from NYU, The New School, and Cooper Union—will hold a radical protest in Washington Square Park, followed by a city march.

Event Overview

This is not a peaceful demonstration. It is a full-scale rejection of law, order, and institutional stability. Protesters are calling for complete academic and financial boycotts of Israel, accusing it of committing genocide and destroying every university in Gaza. The event’s tone is militant, aiming to confront university leadership with demands that echo pro-Hamas ideology and anti-American extremism.

The rally goes far beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Organizers demand the removal of all ICE, FBI, and NYPD presence from campuses. They declare any cooperation with federal agencies to be “fascist atrocity.” Their broader goal? To dismantle campus governance and replace university leadership with “student, faculty, and staff-led councils”—effectively removing accountability and inviting chaos.

Organizers’ Background

SJP has a long, documented record of promoting antisemitism, glorifying intifada, and using intimidation tactics on college campuses. This latest mobilization pushes that even further—aiming to criminalize federal partnerships, harbor international students from lawful investigation, and tear down university structures they deem insufficiently radical.
