Penn Against The Occupation (PAO) is an extremist group based in the University of Pennsylvania. While the identities of its members remains momentarily unclear, it is believed that PAO’s activities and membership have merged with other extremist organizations at UPenn and the Philadelphia area. While their notoriety isn’t on the scale of SJP, their methods are along the same crooked lines. Their social media is a perverse treasure trove on antisemitic rhetoric and praise of US designated terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.
Activity
- Social Media: The PAO’s social media is a perverse treasure trove on antisemitic rhetoric and praise of US designated terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. While existing on multiple platforms, they’re highly active on Instagram, using the platform to promote events, disseminate information, and engage with local “activist” communities.
- Campus Mobilization: PAO members have participated in numerous demonstrations and campaigns on UPenn’s campus. These rallies and events are often festering with antisemitic and anti-American slogans, praise for terrorist organization and often result in damaged property and intimidation.
Notable Actions
Due to the lack of identifiable leadership and distinct activities, PAO’s actions are challenging to isolate. However, the group isn’t shy about their glorification of terror or their antisemitism. We high encourage students and locals to avoid engagement with such hate groups and report any suspicious behavior on their part.
