Andrew Ross

Andrew Ross is a longtime radical activist and vocal supporter of extremist organizations that promote the destruction of the Jewish people. His rhetoric has frequently aligned with Hamas propaganda, glorifying violence against Israelis and demonizing Jewish communities. Ross has used his academic position to spread anti-Israel narratives, advocate for the isolation of Israel, and excuse terrorism as a form of “resistance.” His actions have contributed to an increasingly hostile campus environment for Jewish students.

Andrew Ross’ Arrest and Radical Activism

Ross’s extremism culminated in his arrest during an illegal pro-Palestinian encampment at NYU in December 2024.

  • December 15, 2024: Ross was arrested outside NYU while shouting, “Free Palestine! Free Palestine!”
  • NYU banned Ross from campus following his arrest.
  • A lawsuit was filed against Ross for “egregious acts of antisemitism.”

Ross’s arrest came amid growing calls for universities to sever ties with Israel—an agenda he has pushed for years through his leadership in radical anti-Israel movements.

Glorification of Hamas-Led Terrorism

Following Hamas’s brutal October 7, 2023, massacre—which resulted in the murder of 1,200 Israelis, the mass rape and torture of civilians, and the kidnapping of hundreds—Ross continued to incite hatred against Israel while refusing to condemn Hamas’s atrocities.

  • October 25, 2023: Less than three weeks after Hamas’s mass murder of Israeli civilians, Ross spoke at a Faculty for Justice in Palestine (FJP) rally, where he:
    • Claimed to represent the “cause of Palestine.”
    • Dismissed Hamas’s terror attacks as part of a “colonial war”—framing Israel’s existence as illegitimate.
    • Stated, “It is not a conflict. It is a colonial war.”

Ross has repeatedly framed terrorism as a justifiable response to Israel’s presence, refusing to acknowledge the brutal violence committed by Hamas against innocent civilians.

Advocacy for Extremist Organizations and Boycotts

Ross has played a leading role in anti-Israel boycotts, working closely with organizations that promote the elimination of Israel under the guise of academic activism.

  • October 2023: Served on the advisory board and was a member of the “Organizing Collective” of the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (USACBI)—an extremist organization that seeks to isolate Israel internationally.
  • Member of Faculty for Justice in Palestine (FJP), a group that has spread Hamas-aligned propaganda across U.S. campuses.
  • 2017: Participated in Israel Apartheid Week (IAW), a global event that falsely equates Israel with apartheid South Africa while pushing for extremist boycotts.
  • 2016: Published an article glorifying a Palestinian killed in clashes as a “martyr” while justifying a wave of stabbing attacks against Israelis.

Demonization of Israel and Justification of Terrorism

Ross has actively promoted Hamas talking points and distorted facts to portray Israel as a violent oppressor while excusing Palestinian terrorism.

  • 2019: Published “Stone Men: The Palestinians Who Built Israel,” a book that paints Israelis as exploiters and vilifies Jewish communities living in the West Bank.
  • 2016: In an article, Ross justified Palestinian stabbing attacks and suggested they marked the beginning of a new violent uprising, writing:
    • “A knife is not a gun, but it is also more than a rock… something new is about to be born, ‘its hour come round at last.’”
  • 2014: Advocated for anti-Israel boycotts in an article where he:
    • Accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and apartheid.
    • Called Israel a “settler-colonial” state, echoing Hamas propaganda.
  • 2015: Created the film “The Coming Intifada,” romanticizing Palestinian uprisings, which have been marked by bombings, shootings, and suicide attacks.

An Extremist at NYU

Andrew Ross is not merely an anti-Israel activist—he is a vocal advocate for organizations that support Hamas’s genocidal war against Israel. His writings and speeches consistently justify violence against Jews, frame terrorism as legitimate resistance, and push for extremist boycotts designed to isolate Israel. His arrest at NYU in December 2024 is the culmination of years of radical activism aimed at spreading hatred and legitimizing terrorism.
