Yogita Goyal

Yogita Goyal, a professor in UCLA’s Department of English and African American Studies, has emerged as a staunch supporter of radical campus protests that glorify terrorism, spread antisemitism, and attack university leadership for enforcing basic campus safety. Rather than using her role as an educator to foster critical thinking, Goyal uses her platform to defend extremist agitators, delegitimize Israel, and push inflammatory rhetoric under the veil of “justice” and “resistance.”

Active Role in Extremist Campus Mobilizations

Goyal’s public record reveals consistent involvement in protests that blur the line between activism and radicalization:

  • June 10, 2024: Goyal publicly denounced the LAPD’s declaration of an unlawful assembly during a pro-Palestinian protest on UCLA’s campus. She dismissed legitimate safety concerns, arguing students should be allowed to express their political views — even when those views included support for terror-linked slogans and calls for violence.

  • June 3, 2024: Participated in a UCLA faculty walkout and protest in support of the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike, which was linked to the anti-Israel campus encampments. Goyal used this opportunity to further amplify pro-Hamas rhetoric and denounce university efforts to restore order.

  • May 9, 2024: Spotted at a UCLA protest holding a sign that read: “UCLA Faculty for Free Palestine.” The demonstration occurred in the wake of encampments that had physically barred Jewish students from access to campus spaces and served as a platform for antisemitic chants.

  • May 4, 2024: Attended a faculty-led protest outside the Hammer Museum demanding the resignation of Chancellor Gene Block. Goyal brandished a sign reading: “Shame! Gene Block must go!” — blaming the administration for dismantling an encampment marred by violence and support for terrorism.

Signing On to Extremism

Goyal has aligned herself with radical open letters that condone violence and demonize Israel:

  • 2024: Signed an open statement alongside over 1,200 self-described scholars in “feminist, queer, and trans studies,” accusing Israel of genocide, ethnic cleansing, colonialism, and occupation — while justifying “resistance” without condemning the atrocities of October 7.

  • May 2021: Endorsed Saree Makdisi’s open letter, which accused UCLA of ignoring “anti-Palestinian racism” while condemning antisemitism — framing efforts to protect Jewish students as political bias.

 Indoctrinating, Not Educating

Rather than encouraging academic inquiry, Goyal promotes a dangerous blend of identity politics and radical ideology:

  • Frames terror-aligned encampments as acts of peaceful resistance.

  • Discredits law enforcement and university authority, even after physical attacks, hate speech, and threats to Jewish students emerged at UCLA.

  • Shields student agitators from accountability by calling for full amnesty for those arrested during the illegal Gaza Solidarity Encampment.

A Voice for Extremism — Not Peace

Yogita Goyal has cast herself not as a scholar, but as an enabler of extremism on one of America’s most visible campuses. Her endorsements of radical protests, her silence on terrorism, and her repeated vilification of Israel and Jewish institutions are not expressions of academic freedom — they are expressions of ideological warfare.

  • Refuses to condemn Hamas atrocities
  • Denounces UCLA leadership for enforcing public safety
  • Supports encampments known for antisemitic threats and glorification of violence

This is not free speech. This is a professor fueling campus extremism.
