Sahar Aziz, a Rutgers University law professor and director of the Rutgers Center for Security, Race, and Rights (CSRR), has a long record of spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric, defending Hamas terrorism, and leading anti-Israel activism. Aziz has repeatedly used her academic position to push extreme narratives, promote the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and spread conspiratorial claims about Jewish power and privilege.
As of July 2024, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee was investigating Aziz’s CSRR for its pro-terror and anti-Semitic views. She has also been accused of ethical violations in New Jersey’s education system for her bigoted rhetoric and support for Israel’s destruction.
Defending Hamas Terrorism and Glorifying “Resistance”
Aziz has repeatedly excused and justified violence against Jews, using coded language to promote terror:
-
October 30, 2023 – Following Hamas’s massacre of 1,200 Israelis, including children, Aziz posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“The world would rather show solidarity with our corpses than honor our resistance.”- The term “resistance” is frequently used by Hamas and its supporters to justify terrorism against civilians.
- Her post linked to an article featuring Hamas terrorists breaching Israel’s border on October 7, 2023, when they committed beheadings, rape, kidnappings, and mass murder.
-
May 2021 – Aziz signed a Rutgers University Faculty letter stating:
- “Israel’s right to ‘self-defense’ erases the colonial context and delegitimizes the Palestinian right to resistance.”
- This explicitly excuses terrorism and portrays Israel’s self-defense against Hamas rocket fire as illegitimate.
Anti-Semitic Rhetoric and Jewish Conspiracies
Aziz has a history of pushing anti-Semitic conspiracies, including:
-
February 21, 2024 – During a CSRR webinar, Aziz claimed:
- “Jewish American communities enjoy white privileging and white fragility.”
- “The entire infrastructure of civil rights and human rights is centered around them.”
- “They are privileged vis-à-vis their Muslim, Palestinian, and Arab counterparts.”
- Aziz’s comments mirror classic anti-Semitic tropes of Jewish control over society and civil rights.
-
March 28, 2023 – She posted “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy”, endorsing a book that promotes the conspiracy theory of Jewish control over the U.S. government.
-
March 30, 2023 – A New Jersey resident filed a school ethics complaint against Aziz, stating that she:
- “Used Nazi terminology, invoking the Jewish commitment to Zion as proof that Jews believe themselves to be the ‘master race.’”
- Claimed that Jewish people have no historical connection to Israel and labeled their presence there as “settler colonialism.”
Ties to Anti-Israel Extremism and BDS
Aziz is deeply embedded in radical anti-Israel activism:
- January 2023 – Spoke at an American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) event, a group that has ties to Hamas and has called for Israel’s destruction.
- December 2021 – Posted on X: “#Israel uses #apartheid to exclude #Palestinians.”
- May 13, 2021 – Posted: “Sheikh Jarrah highlights the violent brazenness of #Israel’s colonialist project.”
A Backwards Influence in Academia
Sahar Aziz actively promotes anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, justifies terrorism, and calls for Israel’s destruction. Her position at Rutgers University and the Rutgers Center for Security, Race, and Rights (CSRR) gives her a dangerous platform to radicalize students and spread extremist propaganda.
